Every joint has a normal range of motion. Maintaining full motion keeps joints happy and healthy. Forces can be applied to joints to help improve and restore full motion.
Each joint has a muscle connection. Joints and muscles work together to create all of our movements. Sometimes a muscle could be limiting the motion of a joint. Gentle resistive forces applied at the muscles are used to restore the muscle and joint relationship.
Myofascial = muscle and fascia. Fascia is the connective webbing that holds our muscles, organs, blood vessels, and nerves together. Trigger points are bundles of dysfunctional muscle fibers. They occur due to trauma or stress from frequent use. Trigger points can cause pain. Trigger point release can help reduce pain.
Our brains are equipped with ways to communicate to our muscles. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation uses naturally occurring patterns to help improve how the brain connects to muscles/joints and enhance movements.
Targeted, hands-on strengthening by your physical therapist. The advantage is to strengthen the muscle through the entire range of motion of the joint. Hands-on strengthening allows emphasis of strengthening in points of weakness during a motion.
Based on your goals, an exercise program will be prescribed. Various programs will be given and revised with emphasis on injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, strength training, and endurance training.
